Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation and Senior BJP leader Shri Amit Shah addressed a public meeting in Nanded, Maharashtra on Monday. Shri Shah praised the works carried out during the tenure of CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis. Referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Shri Amit Shah mentioned ‘Operation Sindoor’ and stated that India is no longer a weak nation but a country with decisive leadership that responds to terrorist attacks through surgical and air strikes. Shri Shah also shared details about the ongoing ‘Operation Black Forest’ against Naxals in Chhattisgarh and called for the complete elimination of Naxalism from the country by 31 March 2026. During the event, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, State President Shri Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Ashok Chavan, Acting State President Shri Ravindra Chavan, Maharashtra Minister Shri Atul Save, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Ajit Gopchhade, along with other leaders were present on the stage.

Shri Shah, while praising Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, said that it is a matter of great fortune that he not only completed a full five-year term but was also re-elected. Referring to the recent cowardly attack on May 22, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists brutally targeted and killed innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Shah noted Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s strong message from Bihar: “Wherever the terrorists may hide, they will be hunted down and eliminated.” Pakistan seems to have forgotten that this is no longer the India of weak Congress-led governments. For the past 11 years, the country has been under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the decisive governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has responded to every attack with strength and resolve. When the Uri terror attack occurred, India responded with a surgical strike across the border. The Pulwama attack was answered with a powerful airstrike. And now, after the cowardly attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Army has destroyed hundreds of terrorist hideouts under ‘Operation Sindoor.’

Union Home Minister stated that ‘Operation Sindoor’ has sent a clear message to the world: anyone who dares to challenge India’s Army, its people, or its borders will face severe consequences. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has made it absolutely clear that any attack on innocent Indian civilians will not be answered with mere bullets, but with heavy artillery. On the night of May 7, at exactly 1:04 AM, our forces destroyed nine terrorist hideouts within just 22 minutes. On May 8, Pakistan attempted to launch an attack using drones and missiles, but India’s air defense system was so robust that not a single drone or missile could even touch Indian soil. On May 9, the Indian Army completely destroyed the airbases and air defence systems from where Pakistan had initiated the attack. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has named this mission ‘Operation Sindoor’, sending a powerful message that the ‘Sindoor’ adorning the foreheads of India’s daughters and sisters is not cheap. If anyone dares to wipe it off, they will be answered with blood. Operation Sindoor has not only demonstrated to the world the strength and security of our borders, but has also proven that this is a ‘New India’—an India that is determined to become a nation by 2047 so strong that no one will dare to look at it with hostile intent.

Shri Shah remarked that while Operation Sindoor was underway, another mission, ‘Operation Black Forest,’ was also active, symbolizing India’s strategic strength and resolve. In Chhattisgarh, CRPF, Chhattisgarh Police, and BSF jointly destroyed Naxalite hideouts located on a 5,000-foot-high hill. In this operation, first 27 and then 31 Naxalites were killed, taking the total to 36 Naxalites eliminated so far. Several Naxalites have surrendered, and many have also been arrested. By March 31, 2026, Naxalism will be completely eradicated from the soil of this country. Shri Shah said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has also annulled the Indus Waters Treaty that was once signed by Jawaharlal Nehru. The Hon’ble Prime Minister has made it clear that blood and water cannot flow together. All trade routes with Pakistan have been closed because ‘trade and terror’ cannot go hand in hand. If Pakistan dares to spread terror, the response will be such that even their future generations will remember it.

Union Home Minister stated that after Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji decided that this is not just an issue for the Centre but a matter concerning the entire nation. Therefore, an all-party delegation of Members of Parliament will be formed and sent to various countries around the world to expose Pakistan’s terrorist face on global platforms. When this decision was made, a prominent leader of the Uddhav Sena remarked, "I don’t understand which Baarat is going." This is the same party that once belonged to Balasaheb Thackeray. If Balasaheb were alive today, he would have embraced Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for Operation Sindoor. It is unfortunate that leaders of the Uddhav Sena are now referring to such nation-centric efforts as a “Baarat.”

Shri Shah stated that Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis had launched a major initiative to bring water to the drought-hit region of Marathwada. In 2019, the Marathwada Water Grid Project was started with an estimated cost of ₹40,000 crore. Under this project, 11 major dams were to be connected through pipelines to supply water to every village and field in Marathwada. However, the project was halted when the Maha Vikas Aghadi government came to power. Now that Shri Devendra Fadnavis has returned as Chief Minister, water will reach every village and field in Marathwada within the next five years. This is the same land that has suffered droughts since the time of Emperor Ashoka, but now it will be filled with water. Water from Konkan will now reach the villages, homes, and fields of Marathwada. Shri Shah said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has elevated the pride of the Marathi language by granting it the status of a ‘Classical Language.’ This demand had been pending for years, but leaders like Sharad Pawar, who held ministerial positions at the Centre for decades, could not fulfil it. By recognizing Marathi as a classical language, the Prime Minister has honoured the sentiments and dignity of the people of Maharashtra.

Union Home Minister said that under the leadership of Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP government will work towards making Maharashtra the number one state in the country once again. Hon’ble Prime Minister has resolved to make India a developed nation by 2047, and I firmly believe that the sacred land of Maharashtra — of Shivaji Maharaj, Lokmanya Tilak, and Savarkar Ji, will have the greatest contribution in achieving this goal. Maharashtra will emerge as the first developed state in the country, and it will pave the way for India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
