Salient Points of BJP National President and Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda’s address at the 11th International Yoga Day programme held at Kartavya Path

Today marks 11 years of the journey of International Yoga Day, which was accepted by the entire world upon the call of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Over these ten years, an atmosphere of awareness and goodwill towards yoga has been created across the globe
********************************
Yoga is the union of the body, mind, soul, and intellect. It is not merely a physical exercise, but also a mental discipline. At the same time, it serves as a means to recognize our inner self—our self-awareness or spiritual consciousness
********************************
Yoga provides us with a healthy body, a balanced mind, and the ability to work in a positive environment. Practicing yoga just for a day will not fulfill its true purpose — we must incorporate it into our daily routine
********************************
Yoga is not merely an exercise, but a holistic discipline that guides our way of life. By adopting yoga, we can elevate our lives to new heights
********************************
The National Health Policy of 2017 declared that the healthcare system would no longer be one-dimensional. Alongside allopathy, AYUSH systems (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) would be integrated
********************************
A "Centre for Integrated Medicine" has been established at AIIMS Delhi, where work is underway to strengthen the immunity of patients suffering from serious illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney failure, and cancer
********************************
Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ministry of AYUSH has taken unparalleled steps to promote yoga and connect it with the masses. The goal is not just a healthy body, but the creation of a healthy mind and a healthy nation

The core objective of yoga is to inspire more and more people to adopt it, to know themselves, and to move their lives forward with physical and mental balance towards greater excellence

Hon’ble BJP National President & Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda today (Saturday) participated in the program organized at Kartavyapath, New Delhi, on the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day. He performed several yoga postures and, on this occasion, gave a message to all citizens including yoga practitioners to adopt yoga in their lives. He said that the journey of International Yoga Day has completed 10 years and we are entering the 11th year. In these ten years, we have seen that not only in our country but around the world, an environment of awareness and goodwill toward yoga has developed. During the event, Acharya Pragya Sagar Muni Ji, AYUSH Department Joint Secretary Smt. Kavita Jain, BJP National Media Co-Head Dr. Sanjay Mayukh, and NDMC Vice Chairman Shri Kuldeep Chahal, among many others, were present in large numbers.

Shri Nadda extended greetings to the people on Yoga Day and said that the concept and initiative of celebrating International Yoga Day was undertaken by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji in the year 2014. In December that same year, the United Nations General Assembly declared 21 June to be celebrated as ‘International Yoga Day’. This proposal received the support of more than 170 countries. Since then, every year on 21 June, Yoga Day is celebrated across the globe. A large number of people have participated and contributed to it. Yoga has played a role in the health sector, in reducing mental stress, and in bringing positive changes in a person’s life. The number of participants in Yoga Day programs is increasing every year. Today, we will also get to hear the address of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji from Visakhapatnam. On this Yoga Day, crores of people in lakhs of places across the country and abroad are participating in yoga. This is an event celebrated with a very positive environment, positive energy, and contribution, in which all of us are participating.

The Hon’ble National President said that yoga is our very ancient discipline, which has proven helpful in taking life toward excellence. Yoga is not PT or exercise, nor is it merely physical training. Yoga means “union.” Yoga is a complete discipline that connects different aspects of life. Yoga is a union of body, mind, soul, and intellect. It is not just a physical exercise but also a mental one. At the same time, it becomes a means to recognize our “self,” i.e., self-consciousness. Yoga is the path that connects the soul to the Supreme Soul. A very important aspect of yoga is – meditation. In this, we attempt to recognize our “self.” It is not confined only to this gross body, but it is a process of looking within and achieving self-awareness. When the body, mind, and soul come into rhythm, then along with physical development, mental balance is also naturally established. Yoga provides us with the ability to function in a healthy body, balanced mind, and positive environment. Therefore, more and more people should connect with yoga, recognize themselves, and move their lives forward toward excellence with physical and mental balance – this is the core objective of yoga. I am fully confident that all of us will not remain limited to practicing yoga only on Yoga Day, but will make it an integral part of our lives. The objective will not be fulfilled by doing yoga only for one day. We must include it in our daily life routine.

Shri Nadda appealed to the people of the country and said – I have both hope and belief that we all should think about how to include yoga in our daily lives. It is not just exercise but a complete discipline that gives direction to life, which, if adopted, can elevate our lives to new heights. I have full confidence that all of you will associate yoga with special occasions like your birthday and adopt it as a regular practice in your lives. This is my firm belief.

The Union Health & Family Welfare Minister said that our allopathic medical system, which we call modern medical science, has also adopted the holistic health approach. In the 2017 National Health Policy, we decided that our healthcare system will not be unidimensional but holistic, and different medical systems will be integrated. Under this vision, AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) was integrated along with allopathy. That is why now, even in reputed institutions like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where modern medicine is available, the AYUSH department has also been included. At AIIMS Delhi, a special center named “Center for Integrated Medicine” is now being run. At this center, intensive work is being done to strengthen the immune system of patients suffering from severe diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney failure, and cancer. Simultaneously, the center is also attempting to explore how heart-related issues can be controlled in a balanced and safe manner.

Shri Nadda said that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the way the Ministry of AYUSH has taken yoga forward and connected it with the masses is unprecedented. Its goal is not only a healthy body but also the creation of a healthy mind and a healthy nation. We are all working together in this direction, and I am fully confident that your cooperation will certainly be with us. I would like to reiterate that yoga is not limited to just 21 June. We must connect yoga with our birthdays and our entire lives. I firmly believe that all of you will make it a part of your daily routine and make Yoga Day a success.
