Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Shri Pradeep Bhandari addressed a press conference at the party’s central office in New Delhi, on Tuesday. During the conference, Shri Bhandari emphasized that the remarkable 10-year success of the Digital India Mission is a direct outcome of the visionary leadership and policy direction of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. He remarked that while the opposition promotes a “destructive model” rooted in corruption, dynastic politics, and appeasement, the Modi-led government champions a model focused on “development and technological inclusion”. Today, the poor have emerged as key drivers of the digital revolution, whereas the opposition's approach reflects a mindset that is regressive and against the interests of the people.
Shri Bhandari stated that as the Digital India Mission completes 10 years, it is evident that it is due to the decision-making ability of the Bharatiya Janata Party that the country has emerged as a leader in technological inclusion. Today, the nation is faced with two models; on one hand is the destructive model of the opposition, associated with corruption, dynastic politics, and appeasement; on the other hand is the development model of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. While in Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh, a government employee is beaten by someone close to Rahul Gandhi; in Karnataka, they indulge in corruption within schemes and remain entangled in power struggles because the foundation of their politics is corruption. This has been the history of the Congress party, and even former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had admitted that if the government sends 1 rupee, only 15 paise reaches the poor. This same situation can still be seen in states ruled by the opposition.
BJP National Spokesperson Shri Bhandari remarked that in Karnataka, ministers of the Congress government themselves admit to corruption, and in Himachal Pradesh, government employees are being assaulted. This is why the public has consistently rejected the opposition and extended its support to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s model of development. At one time, Congress leader P. Chidambaram had asked in Parliament, “Can a poor person ever do digital transactions?” Today, as Digital India completes 10 years and India accounts for 50% of the total digital transactions globally, it stands as a testament to the success of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s policies and vision. Shri Bhandari said that if the opposition's 'INDI Alliance' were to be called by another name, it would be the Bhrastachar, Parivarwad, Namazwad and Vinashwad Alliance, whereas the sole guiding principle of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s government is development, and development alone.
Responding to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge's tweet claiming that the internet has not reached villages, Shri Bhandari said that while there were only 27 crore internet connections during the Congress regime, today that number has crossed 197 crore, with 95% of villages connected to the internet. This is the reality of Digital India, which the opposition is unable to accept. The Congress party complains about a lack of election funds, while in Karnataka, even Mallikarjun Kharge himself is unaware of the political situation there. All of this is a result of a politics rooted in corruption; this has been the very mindset of the Nehru-Gandhi-Vadra family. At a time when the Congress government was considering handing over sensitive areas like Siachen to Pakistan, today those very regions have access to 5G internet, and India has emerged as a leader in the field of technology.
Comparing the two political camps in the country, Shri Bhandari stated that today the nation faces two choices: a model of development and a model of destruction. The entire opposition is frustrated by the fact that the poor, the underprivileged, and the common people of the country have now become part of digital inclusion. It is only under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji that over 25 crore people have been able to rise above the poverty line. While the Congress had a mindset of ruling over the poor, today, that very poor person has become a leader of the digital revolution. He is conducting transactions through UPI, and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is serving the nation with the spirit of a Pradhan Sevak. The GeM portal, something Congress could never have envisioned, has today become a powerful government platform witnessing record transactions, with the greatest benefits reaching the middle and lower-middle classes.
Shri Bhandari stated that the same opposition which talks about implementing Sharia law in Bihar had also opposed the CoWIN portal and vaccines during the COVID period. Today, the CoWIN portal, a Made in India platform, has become a symbol of Digital India's success, with over 200 crore vaccination doses administered. When Rahul Gandhi and his family were asked why poverty was not eradicated despite 70 years of rule, it became clear that Congress's sole objective was power and plunder. Even today, Karnataka is witnessing open loot in the name of power and money. Due to the policies of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, India has now become the third-largest internet market in the world. This is one of Digital India’s greatest achievements. If Congress leader P. Chidambaram and his party could take a break from corruption and looting, they might speak to a small vendor, who also transacts through UPI today, something they once deemed impossible. It is this very mindset that has kept Congress in the opposition, and there it will remain. Today, India's AI mission is worth $1 billion. 36,000 GPUs have been made available in India, something no other government has done. This too is a result of the Digital India Mission’s success. Meanwhile, the opposition remains busy with violence, power struggles, and Sharia law agendas.
BJP National spokesperson Shri Bhandari said that the Bharatiya Janata Party publicly demands an apology from both INC leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, as they insulted the poor of the country through P. Chidambaram by suggesting that they cannot be part of the technological revolution. However, today the poor of this country have given them a strong reply as they have become the foremost users of this technological revolution. Congress should apologize to the public for this destructive mindset, but no such expectation can be placed on them. This is the same mindset under which urban Naxals prevented development from reaching villages and obstructed internet and road access to border areas. Today, even border villages are connected to the internet. This is a significant achievement from a national security perspective. That is why Congress is irritated by these images. When countries like France and the Middle East adopt India’s UPI system, and the World Bank seeks to implement India’s digital revolution as a model in other countries, the opposition finds it hard to digest. Today, even the advisor to the Chief Minister of Karnataka admits that the state ranks number one in corruption. In Himachal, there is lawlessness, and in Bihar, there are attempts to implement Sharia law.
Shri Bhandari stated that as the Digital India Mission completes 10 years, its greatest beneficiaries have been the poor, lower middle, and middle classes. Over 40 lakh kilometers of optical fiber have been laid across the country, which is 11 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon. India now ranks first in 5G rollout and is among the top three countries globally in mobile penetration. However, the opposition continues to speak not of development, but of destruction, dynastic politics, corruption, and communal agendas. As India moves toward becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047, the poor, the underprivileged, the middle class, and the aspirational society stand firmly with this digital inclusion under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Citing Digi Yatra as an example, he said that a seamless airport transit was once unimaginable. Today, Digi Yatra has become another successful initiative of Digital India.
BJP National spokesperson Shri Bhandari said that the nation has chosen the path of development under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership. Digital India has now become a successful and impactful model. The people of the country have previously rejected and will continue to reject the opposition’s model of destruction, dynastic politics, corruption, and communalism, as it stands against both the people and development.
