Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha MP Smt. Kamaljeet Sehrawat and NDMC Vice President Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal addressed a joint press conference at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Friday. BJP MP Smt. Sehrawat stated that the AAP government in Delhi has not even discussed Jat reservation in the past 10 years, but now they are indulging in politics of confusion. Shri Kuljeet Chahal stated that Arvind Kejriwal’s promises are nothing but electoral slogans. Whenever he gets caught in an issue, he tries to mislead the people of Delhi. The public has recognized these electoral slogans and will give them a fitting reply.
Smt. Sehrawat stated that elections in Delhi have been announced, and Delhi's former CM and current CM are both spreading traps of lies and confusion. The current CM, Atishi, wrote a letter on January 5, stating that Jats of Delhi were not given reservation by the Union Cabinet. Over the last 10 years, AAP has formed a government in Delhi with a full majority but never raised this issue, neither in the Delhi Assembly nor on any public forum. Now, suddenly on January 5, CM Atishi Marlena has written a letter. The question arises: Arvind Kejriwal, who has claimed to be the most educated CM, should know that providing reservation is a subject of the state. If any state government wants to give reservation to any caste or class, they must first submit a proposal in the Assembly. After the proposal is passed, a cabinet note is prepared, which is then sent to the central government with a request to provide reservation to the concerned caste or class.
BJP MP Smt. Sehrawat remarked that in the last 10 years, there was an AAP government in Delhi, yet not a single discussion on this issue was held in the Delhi Assembly during that period. Former Delhi Minister Shri Kailash Gahlot, who has left the AAP, disillusioned by the party's politics of lies and conspiracy, confirmed that he had raised the issue of providing reservation for Delhi’s Jats with former CM Arvind Kejriwal. However, it is deeply saddening that those who are now politicizing the matter of Delhi’s Jats have neither cared for them nor raised their voices in their favor. The Jat community of Delhi understands the deceitful politics of AAP. Even when the BJP was not in power, it had raised the issue of providing reservation for Jats with the Congress government. It is solely Arvind Kejriwal's AAP government, which ruled Delhi for 10 years, that is responsible for the Jat community in Delhi not being included in the central reservation. Suddenly writing a letter for Jat reservation will not cover up the long neglect of Delhi’s Jats by the AAP government.
Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal remarked that many people from rural backgrounds often found it amusing when Arvind Kejriwal made such statements. Kejriwal’s promise of Jat reservation is merely an election gimmick. The AAP government in Delhi has been on ventilator and Kejriwal, out on bail, is now making false promises about Jat reservation. In the last 10 years, the AAP government has not done anything for the Jat community. Shri Chahal challenged the AAP for an open debate, asserting that they would fail to justify their stance.
Shri Chahal expressed pride in being born into a Jat farmer family and stated that it was an honor for him to be appointed Vice President of NDMC by the world’s most popular leader, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. For the first time, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, hailing from a farmer and Jat family, has been appointed as the Vice President of the country, which is a source of pride for everyone.
BJP Leader Shri Chahal mentioned that everyone witnessed how Congress and other party leaders insulted Shri Dhankhar, which was an insult to the entire Jat community. During that time, Arvind Kejriwal’s MPs were also mocking him. Kejriwal’s sudden affection for the Jat community has surfaced only because Jats in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have supported the BJP. Now, in Delhi, the Jat community and 36 ‘Biradari’ are standing united under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Bharatiya Janata Party is set to form the government in Delhi.
Shri Chahal stated that whenever Arvind Kejriwal gets entangled in an issue, whether it’s the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ or the liquor scam, he shifts the focus by introducing a new election gimmick. The people of Delhi will no longer accept this. It is because of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's relentless efforts, that today children from all walks of life, such as Manu Bhaker and Aman Sehrawat, bring pride to the country by raising the tricolor at the Olympics. If any work has been done for the OBCs, Jat community, or farmers, it has been accomplished by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s government, while Kejriwal only makes election promises without taking any real action.
BJP Leader Shri Chahal remarked that whenever Kejriwal encounters failures, he distracts the media and public by bringing up new issues. He recalled that initially, when a file was sent nominating an individual from the Jat community as NDMC Vice President, Kejriwal’s Delhi government blocked it. Why Kejriwal didn’t Kejriwal support Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar in the Rajya Sabha elections if he truly cared about the Jat community. Kejriwal’s statements are nothing more than election gimmicks, and the people of Delhi have now seen through them. He expressed confidence that the BJP will form a majority government in the upcoming assembly elections, dismissing Kejriwal’s tactics as ineffective.
Shri Chahal stated that whenever Kejriwal faces failures, he introduces new topics to divert the attention of the media and the public. Kejriwal gives Rajya Sabha tickets for money and personal gains, without ever nominating anyone from the Jat community or a farmer’s family. The public is now asking similar questions regarding it and Kejriwal will have to provide answers.
BJP Leader Shri Chahal emphasized that the Aam Aadmi Party lacks ‘Neta,’ ‘Neeti’ and ‘Neeyat’. During critical times like the COVID pandemic, Arvind Kejriwal prioritized decisions such as the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ renovation and the liquor scam. The public is now fully aware of the truth and urged Kejriwal to stop using election gimmicks.
