Nagaland Chief Minister assures corruption-free government

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said that his Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Ministry would provide a corruption-free government to the people.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at Chiephobozou, about 25 klms from here organized by the Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) with a theme "strengthening peace", Mr. Rio said that he would try his best to continue the peace process for permanent settlement of the Naga issue.

He recalled that his Government has already set up a consultative committee of political affairs to contribute to the peace process and said that development would go side by side.
On the unemployment issue of the State, Mr. Rio assured that his DAN Government would extend all possible assistance so that the unemployed youths could do something for their livelihood.

A corpus fund would be set up for the unemployed youths for generation of employment, Mr. Rio announced.

On foreign investment, the Chief Minister said the Government was in touch with a number of companies, which were looking at the possibilities of investing in the State. For this the Centre was also extending all possible help and cooperation to the State Government, he added.
He also lauded Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for extending cooperation in getting investment in the State.

He reiterated that the people of the State should protect and preserve natural wealth.
The NAPO in a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanded setting up of an airport at Chiethu.
