"Ek raat janata ke saath"

On the occasion of the Prakashotsav of Shri Guru Ravi Dassji, Punjab State BJP President Shri Avinash Rai Khanna, MP, launched “Ek raat janata ke saath” (an evening with the people) programme in village Dada in Hoshiarpur assembly constituency. My intention is only to reach each person of my constituency who for some reason or the other cannot have access to me, he said.
Shri Khanna said that while holding a public office politicians should also inspire people to devote themselves in social work and take a vow to fight social evils.
Shri Khanna exhorted the students to respect their teachers, parents and elders. Impressed by his words, the students took a vow to do so before him. Many young men resolved to quit drinking and shun drugs.
He also held corner meetings with the people. Members of an NGO explained to him how they were helping women to be self-reliant by getting training in various vocations, like candle, pickle and durree making. Women also raised the problem of drinking water in the villages.
Ex-Servicemen Cell Convener Subedar Jagan Nath raised the demand for one-rank-one-pension. Yuva Morcha President Shri S. Baljinder Singh demanded construction of a stadium to give a fillip to sports activity in the area.
After hearing the people Shri Khanna sanctioned Rs. 35,000 for water supply and another Rs. 50,000 for undertaking other developmental works in the village.
On this occasion BJP District President Shri Vijay Aggarwal, Shri Sanjiv Talwar, Mandal President Capt. Roshan Lal, Samiti President Moti Lal Sud, and many Sarpanches, Panches and Party leaders were also present.
