Congress only exploited, did nothing for dalits: Shanta KumarBJP National Vice-President and former Union Minister Shri Shanta Kumar said that the Congress Party during its 50 year rule had only exploited the Harijan community and dalits and did nothing for their uplift. Their present miserable condition is a living testimony to their total neglect. Congress only exploited them for votes, he added.

Shri Shanta Kumar was speaking on the occasion of Shri Guru Ravidas Jayanti celebrations organised by Chandigarh BJP SC Morcha in Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran. He expressed happiness that after assuming the office of BJP Vice-President it was a matter of pride for him that the first public function he was attending was to pay his respects to Shri Guru Ravi Dassji. It was BJP which launched the Antyodaya Yojna which benefited the neglected sections of society, he added.

Shri Shanta Kumar said that BJP was not a party for any religion, caste or region. It stands for the uplift of every section of the society in every corner of the country, he said.

Shri Satya Pal Jain, ex-MP, said that persons like Dr. Ambedkar and Sant Shri Ravi Dassji were born in ordinary families and rose to occupy the highest place in the hearts of the people. He castigated the ruling UPA for failure to control prices of essential commodities which had made the life of poor people miserable.

Chandigarh BJP President Shri Yash Pal Mahajan, General Secretary Shri Bal Krishan Kapoor, ex-Mayor Smt. Kamla Sharma, Sarvshri Rajesh Gupta, Kanhaiya Lal Sharma, Satyawan, Leeladhar Swami, Arvind, Mahesh Gupta, Megh Raj Verma, Hari Shankar Mishtra and Shivji Nishad also addressed the gathering.
