Government in UP has failed to protect the life and property of its
citizens. And the latest instance is the shooting down of an Aligarh
BJP leader, Shri O.P. Gupta by three assailants on May 29 evening,
coming close on the heels of a communal rioting that broke up on Ram
Navmi day a month back. Two persons have been killed and nine others
injured in a communal flare-up in Aligarh district when violence broke
out in the city after a local trader and BJP leader, O.P. Gupta a.k.a.
Lala was shot dead.
According
to Uttar Pradesh’s principal home secretary, Mr Satish Kumar Agarwal,
Mr O.P. Gupta was returning home after closing his confectionery shop
in the Dhaniapada locality at around 9 pm on Sunday (May 28) when
three assailants came on a motorcycle and fired several rounds at
him from close range. Shri Gupta, who received bullet injuries in
the head, was rushed to the hospital where he died. The BJP, meanwhile,
staged a demonstration in front of the Assembly building in Lucknow
on May 29 to protest against the murder of the trader.
