BJP
to organise Nationwide
protest against Doda massacre
Date
: May 16, 2006
Dear
Friends,
Regards,
There
is a sinister conspiracy to push out the Hindus from the border areas
of Jammu and this is being put to action by the terrorists. In the
last few months the incidence of violence and terrorist activity has
increased. A fortnight back 19 Hindus were killed in Doda and 13 in
Udhampur. Hindu pockets were deliberately identified and attacked.
People were rounded up and mercilessly beaten to death. This has led
to the exodus of Hindu families from rural areas, which is the aim
of the terrorists.
Around
16 years back similar terrorist attacks resulted in mass exodus of
more than one million Hindus from Kashmir valley. At that time the
government just sat back and watched. Today also the same is happening.
This is an open challenge to the country's unity. The Bharatiya Janata
Party has decided to combat this. In Doda satyagrah is being held
every day. On May 13 the terrorists carried out a grenade attack on
a BJP rally. Two BJP workers Bharat Bhushan and Munshi Ram were martyred.
Instead of criticising the terrorist attack, Jammu and Kashmir Chief
Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad accused the BJP of flaring up the situation.
The
UPA government after it came to power has continued to adopt a soft
attitude towards terrorism. It repealed POTA, which encouraged the
terrorist morale. By tying up with the PDP it participated in the
government in the State but it resulted in further fillip to the terrorist
morale. Now there is talk of demilitarisation and self-rule in Kashmir.
This tragic situation is the result of government's failure to combat
rising terrorism.
The
party office bearers meeting held on 13th May under the chairmanship
of Party President Sh. Rajnath Singh and in presence of Sh. A.B. Vajpayee
and L.K. Advani decided to launch nationwide agitation. The agitation
will comprise of three programmes.
(1)
May 20 to 27 : Dharnas at all district headquarters
and memorandum addressed to the President be given to district magistrate/collector.
(2)
June 7 to 15 : Rallies and dharnas in Jammu by1000
party workers from different states as per following schedule.
June
7 – Rajasthan, Kerala
June 8 – Punjab, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Pondycherry, Andaman
June 9 – Haryana, Himachal, Uttaranchal
June 10 – Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh
June 11 – Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa
June 12 – Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka
June 13 – Bihar, Bengal, Assam, North East States
June 14 – Maharashtra, Goa,
June 15 – Delhi, Gujarat, Daman Div, Dadra Naggr Haveli
(3)
June 23 to 30 : Human chain programme by Bharatiya Janata
Yuva Morcha in all state capitals.
It
is our responsibility to make a success of all the three programmes
of the nationwide agitation. Just as the Kutch agitation in the Jan
Sangh days and the Save Kashmir agitation during the ekta yaatra by
the BJP, we have to work hard to make the agitation a success.
Keeping
in view the importance of the agitation a meeting should be immediately
convened of prominent party workers. A detailed programme for the
agitation should be chalked out in the meet.
Between
May 20 to May 27 well attended dharnas should be held at all district
headquarters. Necessary arrangements should be made for this. This
programme should also be held in all the States including BJP ruled
States. Attached is a draft copy of the memorandum address to the
Hon'ble President India, which would be given to the District Magistrate.
Prominent
party workers must reach Jammu to participate in the agitation programme
to be held from June 7 to 15. The categories of the workers should
be decided. The state office bearers, MPs, MLAs (barring ministers),
district presidents, important elected representatives and other enlisted
workers should be immediately informed so that they can make necessary
air/rail or bus reservations. All party workers will convene in Jammu
at 10 a.m., they will hold a rally and sit on dharna. The dharna will
end at 4 p.m. From 6 p.m. onwards trains are available for return
journey. For those coming from far off places arrangements would be
made for one to two night stay. Should any party worker want to go
anywhere from Jammu, he would have to make his own travel arrangements.
The convenor of this agitation is BJP general secretary Sh Vinay Katiyar
(9415047999) and organiser is Jammu Kashmir Co-incharge Sh Manohar
Lal (9868254075). For any further information contact Jammu organising
secretary Sh Ajay Jamwal (9419141847) or BJP Jammu office (0191-2577036).
Please
ensure all help to the human chain programme organised by the Bharatiya
Janata Yuva Morcha in all State capitals.
Sincerely
yours,
(Arun Jaitley)
General Secretary
