Workers are the backbone of the Party -Venkaiah Naidu

The central office of the Bharatiya Janata Party set up on May 9, a unique mechanism called "Sahyog", under which party workers would be able to interact with Ministers in the Union Council five times a week for two hours every day. On any of these days, three Ministers would visit the Sahyog Prakoshtha (Cooperation cell) and interact with party workers on various issues for strengthering the party and get themselves informed in the process about the activities of the Minsters for onward information to workers.

Party president M. Venkaiah Naidu, speaking on the occasion, said such interaction was absolutely necessary not only at the Central level, but also as the State and district levels. This was because, he stressed, "workers are the backbone of the Party." Shri Naidu however, cantioned all concerned that request for postings and transfers would not be entertained by the "Sahyog Prakoshtha".

Deputy Prime Minister Shri L.K. Advani and several members of the Council of Ministers were present on the ocasion. Shri Naidu recalled that the Party had launched with renewd vigour the Ajeevan Sahyog Nidhi for meeting the day-to-day expenditure of the party from Feb.11 this year, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya which is observed as the Samarpan Divas.

He stressed the need for dialogue between workers and leaders of the party on various issues such as WTO, VAT, Judicial Reforms, IMDT (Illegal Migrants, Determination by Tribunal) Act, ban on cow slaughter. The "Samvad" (dialogue) process in party had got of to a fruitful start with the visit of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, several ministers in the Government.

He reiterated that it was only the BJP and its allies who could strengthan India. So, for "a mighty India, a mighty BJP" was essential.
