Mafias eclipse co-operative movement : Radheshyam Gupta
From Our Correspondent

National Convener BJP Co-operative Cell, Shri Radheshyam Gupta told media that today co-operative movement has become the worlds biggest organized movement. Nearly 760 million people are associated with this movement as its members. He said that today in India nearly 5.5 lakhs of different co-operative societies have set up their branches in 6.82 lakhs villages in India. These co-operative committees are fulfilling the needs of lower and middle class farmers in rural and urban areas, poor and deprived people.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh on June 16 Shri Guptasaid that one-fourth of the country’s population is associated with co-operative movement. We are proud to say that IFCO, KRIVCO, Amul etc. are the national co-operative institutions, which can be called world class. Co-operative movement has completed more than 100 years in India. In spite of that it has not achieved the desired objectives. Some challenges,, notably the co-operative mafia, have eclipsed the movement and are now controlling the economic system. Besides this, co-operative movement is facing challenges from political, governmental and administrative quarters. BJP has accepted this challenge and resolved to build co-operative movement as mass kisan movement. BJP Co-operative Cell has prepared a plan of action to strengthen the rural economy and send it to all its state units for implementation.
