Heartless demolitions by MCD

Delhi BJP President Dr. Harsh Vardhan addressed the media on January 6 regarding the merciless demolition drive being carried out by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. He said that in spite of the Congress being in power at the Centre, in Delhi and also in the MCD, the Capital city was being demolished in a Tuglaqi manner.

He held the Congress responsible for this mess by explaining that even though a resolution was passed in Delhi Legislative Assembly, the Delhi Government did not present the people’s case in Courts promptly, due to which the demolitions started after a Court order.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan made a number of demands, which included:

1. Implementation of V.K. Malhotra Committee’s Amnesty Plan.

2. Constitution of a high-level empowered Committee which includes members from Opposition, to regularise constructions done so far.

3. Implementation of Master Plan 2021

4. Abolition of old 1954 building by-laws

5. Starting cheap housing schemes to provide houses to 40 percent of Delhi’s citizens who don’t own homes

6. Amendment of MCD Act

7. Constituting NCR Development Authority for all-round development

8. Protecting villages from demolitions

9. Allowing constructions till third floor in dwelling units

10. Relief to the suffering people of Delhi by stopping demolitions immediately

Dr. Harsh Vardhan assured Delhi citizens of BJP’s support and outlined plans for taking the Party’s movement further by staging demonstrations and dharnas. He said that all karyakartas of BJP would oppose demolition of people’s homes.
