BJP
government insures BPL families
From Our Correspondent
The
BJP government of Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madhya Pradesh on
January 28 launched a unique Vivekanand Samooh Bima Yojna — a special
group insurance scheme with cent per cent financial support extended
by the State Government to cover the families living below the poverty
line, both in rural and urban areas, in case of death or physical
disability caused by accident or natural disaster.
Under
this scheme, there would be an insurance cover of Rs.50,000 for death
or complete disability caused by some accident or natural disaster.
There would also be an insurance cover of Rs.50,000 for anyone losing
both eyes and limbs or one eye and one limb. An insurance cover of
Rs.25,000 would be provided if a person loses an eye or a limb. Besides,
there would also be an additional insurance cover of Rs.1000 for medical
treatment of those affected.
The
scheme would be implemented in all the 48 districts of Madhya Pradesh
covering about 46 lakh families. The age limit for beneficiaries to
be covered was 18 to 65 years and about 2 crore people, on an average
4 persons per family, would be insured under this scheme.
This
is one of the most ambitious plans for the overall uplift of the poor
and neglected sections of the society in Madhya Pradesh.
