After
seeking the blessings of Lord Jagannath at Puri, BJP President Shri
Rajnath Singh embarked upon the 35-day long Bharat Suraksha Yatra.
His rath moved on from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa on April
6..During his period he will cover 5500 kms while passing through
11 States of the country.
Coming
down heavily on the UPA Government, Shri Rajnath Singh said it had
completely failed to contain the Maoist menace in the entire country
and since it came to power there had been a spurt in its activities.
He alleged that though the Congress had been in power for 42 years,
it had failed to make the country prosperous.
BJP
President said, the reality is that whenever the Congress came to
power, there was a rise in prices of essential commodities. He claimed
that when the NDA came to power, a constant balance was maintained.
On the issue of Congress’ failure to give good governance, Shri Rajnath
Singh said by developing urban areas only development of the nation
cannot be possible. “People sitting in high rise apartments must shun
such type of ideology,” he said. “If UPA does not act properly at
this time of crisis, people will throw them out of power,” he warned.
Referring
to the Congress Government’s appeasement policy towards the Muslims,
Shri Rajnath Singh said, it would harm the country more. The Congress
should shun this attitude and not play divisive politics of minorityism.
He accused the Congress of once again wanting to divide the nation
on the basis of religion. In 1947, the nation was divided on this
basis, but this time the Congress will not be allowed to do it again.
He also criticised Congress party’s policy on quota for Muslims.
Shri
Rajnath Singh said Bangladeshi infiltration was one of the main reasons
for the spurt in terrorism. But the Congress continued to encourage
illegal infiltration. He also criticised the pseudo secularists saying
Hindus and Muslims should be treated on an equal footing.
Senior
BJP leader, Shri Venkaiah Naidu, peaking on the occasion, criticised
the UPA Government’s Maoist policy and said, “When the people are
weeping, the Government is sitting silently.”
Mounting
a scathing attack on Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Shri Naidu
said she had enacted a good drama on the office-of-profit issue. Doordarshan
became the Sonia Darshan, he alleged.
