Suraksha Yatra to cover
10,800 Kms in 25 days: Venkaiah Naidu

BJP President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has announced that Shri L.K
Advani, the leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Shri Rajnath
Singh, BJP National President will commence their twin national integration
‘Rath Yatras’ on the auspicious day of Ramnavmi and Party’s foundation
day on April 6, 2006 from Dwarka (Gujarat) and Puri (Orissa). Shri
advani will cover 5,800 km in 25 days passing through 10 States of
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka , Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya
Pradesh, Rajasthan , Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.
Shri
Rajnath Singh will traverse through 12 States of Orissa, Chhattisgarh,
Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu
and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi in 24 days . Both
the Yatras will conclude on the 149th anniversary of the 1857 Mutiny
on May 10 leading to the first war of independence against the British.
Out of these 35 days, the yatras will have a 10 day break during assembly
elections in five States.
Shri
Naidu said the overall co-ordination of the yatras will be done by
Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu while National General Secretary Shri Ananth
Kumar will be in charge of Shri Advani’s yatra and National Secretary,
Shri Vijay Goel will oversee organisation of Rajnath Singh's yatra.
At the Party’s National headquarters the coordination will be looked
after by party Vice-President, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi along with
party Spokesman, Shri Prakash Javdekar. The party media team for the
yatras will be headed by Shri Arun Jaitley, the National General Secretary
and spokesman of BJP.
