BJP's stunning success in Arunachal Pradesh Panchayat elections

After the pathbreaking success it won in the Nagaland State Assembly elections in December 1002, the Bharatiya Janata Party has recorded stunning success in the recently-held Panchayat elections in Arunachal Pradesh now under Congress rule.

In the three-lier elections, the BJP tally was 438 Gram Panchayat members, 114 Anchal Samiti members and nine Zila Parishad members.

The district-wise break up of BJP members winning the polls are given in the accompanying list.

Shri Pyarelal Khandelwal, party vice-president and in-charge of North-Eastern States said that the "BJP is gaining peoples' trust and confidence which is the outcome of paying special attention to the problems of the North East, Including the provision of a separate Ministry for North Eastern Affairs at the Centre".
