Press release
BJP National General Secretary, Shri Vijay Goel regarding
8th August protest on Assam riots at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi August 5th, 2012. President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Shri Nitin Gadkari will be leading a protest at the Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on 8th August 2012, Wednesday :11 AM onwards against the atrocities taking place in Assam and violence & rioting perpetrated against the indigenous population by illegal Bangladeshi migrants in the state.

Shri L.K Advani who had visited Kokrajhar and other affected areas along with National President Shri Nitin Gadkari, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Smt. Sushma Swaraj, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley, former National President Shri Rajnath Singh, Shri Ananth Kumar, Shri Vijay Goel –incharge of Assam , smt Kiran Maheshwari along with senior leaders from the party will be taking part in the protest.

Working Chairman of the NDA Shri L.K. Advani in his recent visit to Assam had conveyed his displeasure against the state of affairs in the state and stated that this is a clear foreigner versus an Indian issue and that the state and central Congress Governments are siding with the illegal foreign occupants in the state rather than giving justice to the indigenous population.

Shri Advani has also stated that his heart goes all out for the victims of this violence and that guilt lies with the centre and state Congress Governments for their conscious, persistent and deliberate inaction in the face of the root cause of the conflicts- namely the massive infiltration of Bangladeshis illegally into Assam and also into Bodo areas.

The planned ethnic cleansing taking place in the state is very systematic in nature and has been calibrated in detail. Shri Nitin Gadkari has blamed the Congress Government to create a Kashmir like situation in the state where local population is lashed with violence, lands are grabbed, houses burned, livelihood snatched thus forcing the locals with no option but to leave their homelands & take shelter somewhere else in safer places.

State of Assam is an integral part of India. Congress Governments both at the centre and state have failed completely to take adequate preventive measures to curb this planned ethnic cleansing and violence targeted against the local population.

Bharatiya Janata Party will be taking up the issue of planned violence against the locals very seriously both within the Parliament and outside the Parliament. On the opening day of the monsoon session protest will be held at Jantar Mantar and during the course of the Parliament session this issue of vital National interest will be raised in the Parliament too. National public needs to be made aware of the happenings in the state of Assam where our local brethren are suffering, killed, looted and eventually are forced to leave their homes all very systematically. All this is done under the very auspices of the State and Central Congress Governments for petty vote bank politics.
