BJP Mahila Morcha National President, Smt Smriti Irani MP, Dr S S Agarwal National Convener Doctor Cell, Sri Tathagata Roy Member National Executive BJP and other state leaders today visited the B C Roy Children's Hospital in Kolkatta to ascertain reasons behind the recent increased deaths of infants in the pediatric hospital. They found open garbage bins, street dogs within the hospital premises and numbers of open garbage within the children's ward, BJP delegation team was surprised that how "clean chit" is being given to the hospital by the MOS Health in the UPA, TMC leader Shri Sudip Bondhopadhyay. The Superintendent of the hospital admitted the lack of basic medical facilities required for treating critical medical cases. "Ms Mamta Banerjee in her recent interactions with the media refused to answer questions regarding the death of infants in the state confined herself only to queries regarding industries. This need of this hour is a full time Health Minister in West Bengal" said Mrs. Irani. "Simply blaming the Left for the misruling of West Bengal won't do. TMC fought the last assembly elections and appealed for ' Change'. However, the poor and downtrodden people in West Bengal find no change in the attitude or approach of the Government towards the most fundamental right of every citizen- the right to live". She demanded an impartial inquiry by an institution like AIIMS and to place the report at Assembly at the earliest. She also stunned to see the silent role of Central Govt. She will write to the Central Health Minister Shri Golam Navi Azad for his personal intervention in this serious matter.
