Salient points of press conference of BJP National President, Shri Amit Shah addressing press conference at BJP Head Quarter

******

I thank people of Karnataka and BJP Karyakartas from the bottom of my heart for making BJP as the single largest party in Karnataka Assembly Elections

******

Juggernaut of development started by Narendra Modi has reached South India. In Karnataka, we have emerged as the single largest party with 104 seats.  People have showed their love to the BJP and proved that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is loved by the people of Karnataka

******

It is the BJP that has received people's mandate. BJP won in 104 seats, while earlier it was only 40

******

Siddaramaiah Government’s most of the cabinet minister have lost from their constituencies. The CM himself could win from the second seat with a very low margin.

******

Today the situation is such that the Congress and the JD(S) are celebrating and not the public

******

I want to ask the Congress that why are they celebrating. Are they celebrating because they have come down from 122 seats to 78 or because half of their cabinet ministers have lost elections, including the chief ministers or for being reduced to a PPP (Punjab, Pondicherry and Parivar party)

******

Today the Congress has accepted that the tape recording of BJP offering crore of rupees and ministership to MLAs were false. It was concocted to influence the SC hearing

******

Karnataka Assembly Elections in some ways was good. Congress has learned to see win even in their loss. Congress has started having faith in democratic institutions such as Supreme Court, Election Commission and machines such as EVMs. However, it is important that they should also have the same fate on democratic institutions when they lose elections

******

JD (S) should also answer why are they celebrating? Are they celebrating for winning 37 seats or many of their leaders losing their deposits?

******

Congress tried to manipulate the elections in many ways, including talking about regionalism, language, flag issue, religion and Lingayat matter just because they knew they were losing the elections to BJP. They also took the help of anti-national groups such as SDPI and PFI

******

Karnataka Assembly elections give a clear message that public rejected the Congress and voted for the BJP, as they knew that BJP is the only party that could defeat the congress

******

It is right of the single largest party, which is the BJP, to form the Government. We claimed to form the Government by approaching the Governor as BJP got 104 seats and I do not see any wrong in it.

******

If one analyses the JD(S), it can be understood that their campaign was clearly against the Congress and their failure

******

I want to ask the Congress that since 2014, we have taken 14 states away from them. Which is big, 14 states or some Lok Sabha by polls?

******

BJP National President Shri Amit Shah on Monday addressed the media, and thanked the people of Karnataka for making BJP as the single largest party. At the same time he thanked the BJP Karyakartas for going from door to door and making people apprise of the developmental initiatives taken by the BJP. He said that the BJP has increased its vote tally to a great extent and is expanding in the southern region.

He said that in the recently concluded election, BJP won in 104 seats, while earlier it was only 40. There has been increase in the vote share as well. People of Karnataka were fed up of the Congress and its five years of rule which was marred with tremendous surge in crime against women, corruption, atrocities against Dalits among many other issues. Nearly 3,700 farmers committed suicides during the Congress Government tenure which also means that there was a 173 % rise in the number of farmer’s suicide. I believe that all these are the pointers of a failed state Government.

Modi Government worked tremendously for the development of the Karnataka by sanctioning financial aid, projects among others. I am happy that people of Karnataka has given us the mandate, which is against the Congress. JD (S) has also won in those seats where the BJP was weak. “Every place where the BJP had a strong hold has been won by the party. It should be clear that the mandate is “anti-Congress”. The figures and the mandate clearly state that the results are against the Congress.

Highlighting the reason why the BJP chose to claim the Government formation, Shri Shah said that if no one got the clear mandate, does it mean that there has to be re-election? It is the right of the single largest party to form the Government which is the BJP. We claimed to form the Government by approaching the Governor as BJP got 104 seats and I do not see any wrong in it. If one analyses the JD(S), it can be understood that their campaign was clearly against the Congress and their failure.

The BJP National President said that the Karnataka Assembly elections gave a clear message that is the public rejected the Congress and voted for the BJP as it was the only party that could defeat the congress. “It cannot be called a confused mandate as the BJP is just 7 seats less than the magic figure,” said Shri Shah. In total BJP has lost 13 seats where the margin is less than the NOTA, including 6 in Bengaluru region.  This clearly sends the message that people have voted for the BJP to make it win.

Shri Shah questioned the Congress and the JD(S) on why were they celebrating despite not having emerged as largest party. Shri Shah said that today the situation was such that the Congress and the JD(S) were celebrating and not the public. “I want to ask the Congress that why are they celebrating? Are they celebrating because they have come down from 122 seats to 78 or because half of their cabinet ministers have lost elections, including the chief ministers or for being reduced to a PPP (Punjab, Pondicherry and Parivar party). And JD (S) should also answer why are they celebrating? Are they celebrating for winning 37 seats or many of their leaders losing their deposits?”

Shri Shah during his address made it clear that Congress was already aware of their defeat in the elections, due to which they crossed all limits during the elections. “They repeatedly picked up issues on language, regionalism, flag, Lingayat matters and also aligned with SDPI and PFI during the elections. They spread lies by saying that the BJP has diluted the ST/SC Act, instigating the Dalits.” Not just that, the Congress also used money power which was evident with money being recovered from the ex-CM’s constituency.

According to the Election Commission, the money recovered was enough to contest elections in at least 10 constituencies. Apart from that, fake voter cards were recovered making it clear that they tried to manipulate the elections. Today I got to know that VVPAT machines have also been found from the garbage dump.

The national President also said that the Congress has learned to see win even in their loss. Despite the CM losing the elections, most of the cabinet ministers losing the elections, the Congress says that they have won the elections. “Recently, after the by-poll the Congress was celebrating after seeing BJP’s defeat. Though the Congress did not win in those elections, they celebrated as if they won. I want to tell the Congress that since 2014, we have taken 14 states away from them. Which is big, 14 states or some Lok Sabha by polls?”

Terming the coalition between the Congress and the JD (S) as inauspicious, Shri Shah said that when the matter was in the Supreme Court a message was doing round that BJP has offered crore of rupees and minister ship to MLAs. But today the Congress has accepted that the news was false and was concocted to influence the SC hearing.

He said that the Juggernaut of development started by Narendra Modi has reached South India. In Karnataka, we have emerged as the single largest party with 104 seats.  People have showed their love to the BJP and proved that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is loved by the people of Karnataka.

Shri Shah also said that it seemed the Congress has started having faith in democratic institutions such as Supreme Court, Election Commission and machines such as EVMs. However, it is important that they should also have the same fate on democratic institutions even when they lose elections.
