Salient Points by BJP National President
Shri Rajnath Singh

BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh today while speaking to the electronic media at the party headquarters in New Delhi highlighted the following points with regard to the situation in Tamil Nadu and observations of the Hon'ble Supreme Court:

• Nations are administered through rule of law. Challenging rule of law marks the beginning towards anarchy.

• The UPA Govt. is one sad string of continuous failures. A Union Cabinet Minister raising inappropriate questions against the observations of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and challenging the authority of the courts is a dangerous precedent marking a direct confrontation between the executive and judiciary.

• Union Cabinet Minister Mr T R Balu after his adverse comments on the judiciary ceases to have the constitutional right of remaining as a minister of the union cabinet.

• I urge Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi to immediately dismiss Mr. Balu from the Union Cabinet, in order to fulfill the constitutional obligation of the government.

• If the Central Government is not ready to do so, then as per the Constitutional principle of collective responsibility of the Union Cabinet, the entire government is responsible. This will be a serious threat on the constitutional and federal structure of the country.

• The situation is for all to clearly see. First the present UPA Government filed an affidavit denying the existence of Bhagwan Sri Ram. Then blasphemy by the DMK chief, a constituent party of UPA. This was followed by violent attacks on the offices of Hindu organisations and the BJP in Tamil Nadu. Then trying to impose fear of 'Bandh' by using the might of power. Now, finally the disobedience of the Supreme Court by the Tamilnadu government and today's criticism of judiciary by a Union Minister is a matter of grave concern for entire the country.

This indicates that under the present UPA government the cultural, federal and constitutional fabric of the country is being jeopardized.

• This is a test for preserving our constitutional framework. The Prime Minister must stand upright and display the courage and commitment to uphold the true sprit of our constitution.
