The Press Statement issued by BJP National President
Shri Rajnath Singh

BJP National President Mr. Rajnath Singh in a statement issued in New Delhi today questioned Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khurshed Mehmood Kasuri's statement that "Deal on Siachen's is close".

Reacting to the Pakistani Foreign Minister's interview given to an Indian news agency Mr. Rajnath Singh said that peace is a two-way process. What has Pakistan done to achieve it?. What is the back-channel diplomacy, UPA Govt. is pursuing through Non-Papers submitted in Havana?. Mr. Rajnath Singh said that the country wants to know the full details.

The core issue is the dismantling of 59 terrorist training camp and a Full Stop to terrorism operated from Pakistani territory to the resolution of all out-standing issues between India and Pakistan.

Gen.Musharraf must be asked to fulfill his written commitment first, given to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in January, 2004, not to allow and permit use of Pakistan's territory for launching terror attacks against India - before any meaningful dialogue are parleys. Till then all Talks should be kept On Hold including the proposed foreign secretaries meetings in November.

Mr. Rajnath Singh said that the stage for futile talks is over. The time for action has come and India must act on this. Terror has reached to the far hinterland of South from North.

Mr. Rajnath Singh said that the government must realise that India is under siege laid by those who are hostile to our progress, peace, prosperity, social harmony and sovereignty.

Mr. Rajnath Singh further said that all previous agreements with Pakistan has resulted into security disadvantage to India in the past.

Mr. Rajnath Singh said that the BJP had demanded earlier that the government should do nothing in a hush-hush manner on Siachin and take the nation into confidence.

The Opposition and the Parliament should be enlightened as to what is it Kasuri is claiming of a near break-through on Siachin and talks of 'political will' to achieve it.

Mr. Rajnath Singh warned that Siachin is the crux of the Jammu & Kashmir's strategic security perceptions and any yielding on it will be of disastrous consequences to the integration of Jammu & Kashmir and its defence formations who are today in an advantageous position after great sacrifices.

Mr. Rajnath Singh said that BJP would not let anyone barter with that, come what may.
