Press Release

New Delhi: November 17, 2006: Reacting to the reports that the US Senate has passed the Indo-US Nuclear deal with certain amendments, the BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh said that the stated concerns of India as assured by the Prime Minister in the Parliament must be protected and safeguarded. Shri Singh said that India is not facing a very conducive security scenario in the region, so India must have a sovereign right on its nuclear deterrent capability and right to revise it in its own national security interest. The India specific safeguard should be the corner stone of this deal. Our nuclear autonomy should not come under the umbrella of any other country. This is a matter of prime concern for BJP and must be clarified to the country before moving further ahead in Indo-US nuclear deal.
