Condolence Message

I am sad to know about the demise of Shri Vijay Tendulkar, a renowned Marathi playwright, in Pune today after a prolonged illness.

Shri Tendulkar was an outstanding writer who gave Marathi theatre a national and international profile. His plays, many of which were translated into Hindi and other Indian languages, were both creative and carried a strong social message.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.
