Press Statement Issued by
BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh

The BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh termed the Congress – Left alliance as un-natural and unholy. "The sole purpose of Congress-Left alliance was to oppose the BJP. Today, the Left parties have announced about their withdrawal of support to the Congress led UPA government. It was certain that this alliance will break. Today's decision of the Left parties was only a belated decision and action", he said.

Shri Rajnath Singh observed that the Left parties were aware about the Manmohan Singh government's intention to approach the IAEA. "The Left parties intentionally and deliberately delayed their decision to withdraw the support to the UPA government." With the active support from Left parties the Congress had ruined the country's image both nationally and internationally. Inflation had touched new heights. Internal security of the country has weakened. Our international borders have become porus because of the weak policies of the government. The anti-people policies of the government continued unabashedly for the past four and half years, Shri Singh added.

The BJP President said that the UPA government had betrayed the common man in every aspect of life. For the poor and below poverty level families life had become extremely difficult. The people are frustrated with the mis-governance of the UPA government. With this development both the Congress and Left parties have completely lost their image and credibility.

The BJP President called for an emergency meeting of the party's office bearers this evening to discuss the present political scenario and draft its future strategy.

Shri Rajnath Singh on today demanded that the Congress led UPA government should immediately seek a vote of confidence since the Left parties have formally withdrawn their support.

Shri Singh demanded that a special session of the Parliament should be convened immediately and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should seek a vote of confidence. He said the BJP leaders would approach the President of India to direct the present government to seek the trust vote since it had become a minority government.
