| Press Statement issued by Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, On demand of separate currency The demand of the Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra asking for a separate currency for the state is fraught with a separatist insinuation and deserves an outright condemnation. In the garb of autonomy the statement spews separatism and such a demand by senior Minister does not absolve the Congress leadership in the state or the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who is heading a coalition government in Kashmir . The failure to sack the Minister so far amply proves this point. The deafening silence maintained by the top brass leadership of the Congress party in general and Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi in particular on an issue which has major ramification on country’s sovereignty is appalling. The indifference exhibited by them amply confirms misplaced priorities on issues of National concern. It is shocking that with an eye on the impending elections in the state and the greed to hold power even at the cost of country’s sovereignty, the Congress has chosen to ignore the bizarre and divisive statement. While states and Nations across the globe are working towards integration and adopting a common currency as witnessed in the European Union, here is a state of the Federal India which is asking for a separate currency. The demand is the total negation of the Constitution and such a preposterous proposal never ever has been mooted in the past. It would be pertinent to recall that Late Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee the founder president of BJP (erstwhile Jansangh) had sacrificed himself attaining martyrdom while opposing the permit system for Indian’s visiting Kashmir . The party had positioned the foundation and fundamentals of Nationalism by categorically stating “two Constitutions, two Flags and two PMs ” are completely unacceptable. The Prime Minister and the Congress party must come out categorical on such a fundamentalist and divisive remark especially in a border sensitive state of Kashmir . The errant Minister is unfit to be in the government and should be sacked. On identification cards for all in Delhi The announcement of implementing mandatory identification for individuals in Delhi is fraught with discrimination and is aimed at pin pointing and targeting the large presence of hard working migrant workforce who form the core support base for the Nation’s Capital. The failure of the Union Government or the Delhi state government run by the Congress to beef up their intelligence & security systems to stem or fight terrorism cannot be a ground to make Delhi a Military Cantonment where persons will have to posses a mandatory localized identification. At the same time, casting aspersions that migrants are responsible for insecurity and terrorist activities is pathetic. Even large number of migrants are working not only in Delhi but across the Country and such a draconian measure will demolish the true secular credential of the Nation, The Government of Delhi & Union government must take a cue from Gujarat, that despite presence of a large number of migrant labours there is not a single terrorist incident reported in the state in last five years. The Nation will not accept any attempt to impose a virtual permit raj. (Shyam Jaju) |
