Memorandum
to the Rashrapati of India, the supreme Commander of the Indian Armed
Forces
The Government
of India (Prime Ministers Office through Justice Rajendra sachar Committee)
has issued instructions to the Service Headquarters to undertake a head
count of the Muslims by rank and comment on their operational performance.
It is a seditious move whose adverse consequences can be most disastrous
unvisualized .at this point of time. It is not appreciated that there
is deep sense of espirit de corps and strong bond of camaraderie among
All Ranks of the armed forces, which cut across their personal religious
faith, caste, creed, region and language.
They take a solemn vow for loyalty to the constitution of India, to
uphold the honour and dignity of their Regiments and to safeguard the
integrity and freedom of their nation at any price including at the
cost of their life. This creates a bond far stronger than the bond of
blood relationship .All festivals and religious days are celebrated
together in the Regiments places of worship.
To dissect this monolithic structure into different religious faiths
will result in Mandalisation of this precious national asset which is
the last resort of the powers that be, for orderly governance of our
diverse society. All ranks live, eat, play and under take their onerous
duties without any thought of their respective differences. They come
from all walks of life and get knitted into one happy family as they
are all volunteers and not conscripts
Meddling in their culture by the political masters will destroy their
ethos which have been nourished over 250 years with their sweat and
blood. They function collectively as a team and not as individuals to
serve the government of the day as an apolitical entity. They have not
interfered in the functioning of the civil administration as they have
been spared from political interference. The benign government should
think of welfare of one and all instead of one community there by creating
dissention in the society.
We, the Defence Services Veterans, though, have been out of uniform
for many years, our loyalty to the Defence Services and to the oath
that we took on enrolment remains undiminished as we have given many
years of our precious youth in the service of the nation and carry indelible
memories of our adventure with our Comrades in Arms.
We, are
placing this Memorandum before you so that as Supreme Commander of the
Armed Forces of India, you can warn the authorities that be, of the
adverse fall out of their scheme
