On Nagaland

An abortive clandestine attempt has been made recently to dislodge the coalition government. in Nagaland usurping all democratic norms and principles. Defections and resignations are being mustered by the local Congress leadership on the behest of the UPA Government at the centre. Even after burning their fingers in Bihar and Jharkhand and the resultant harsh indictment by the Highest Court , it seems that the Congress stands undeterred in indulging in the usual Government toppling game. The DAN Government which has successfully completed its term, where the Assembly elections are scheduled in February, 2008, choosing to destabilize it on the eve of elections reflects nothing less then a sinister design to take over and misuse the official machinery for purported electoral gains. The contemptuous ganging up of Congressmen defying the floor test where the majority has been proven and thereafter rushing to Delhi is clearly a proof of their insatiable desire to grab power.

The policy of the UPA government has already put the entire North East in virtual political and social turmoil including noted Chinese intrusions in Arunachal Pradesh, spate of ULFA killings in Assam , rampant infiltration on the borders, strained ceasefire dialogues in Nagaland and now striking the roots of democracy by attempting to dislodge the Rio led DAN Government. The BJP which is a part of the coalition government in Nagaland would leave no stone unturned to oppose any such unconstitutional attempt by the UPA Government to impose President’s rule. Even the people of Nagaland who have been watching all these developments are set to give a befitting reply to the battered Congress in the ensuing election.

On the Eleventh Plan

The BJP takes strong exception to the apportioning of the national wealth and singling it out for a religious community in particular as being divisive and unconstitutional. The earmarking of 15 % of the plan fund and PM’s 15 point programme with 4000 crores marked for Muslim dominated districts demolishes the secular contours of the Constitution. The country is aghast at the shocking provision of plan resources on religious basis and the vision is completely myopic and outrageous. The BJP welcomes inclusive growth and not mere lip service. The Plan document sans poor and down trodden and anti people with a primary focus on targeting the Muslim community for petty electoral gains and the camouflaged statement of the PM has done very little to allay the apprehensions raised by the BJP.
