Press Release A meeting of the Finance Ministers of BJP ruled states will be held on December 11th, 2004 in New Delhi. This is a follow up on the Chief Ministers' Conference of BJP ruled states, held in New Delhi on 11th and 12th September 2004. Participating states are Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Goa, and Orissa. The meeting will discuss various issues related to state finances such as expanding the tax base, augmenting resources, attracting private and foreign investments, promotion of public private partnerships and making the system more transparent and accountable through procedural reforms. This meeting will be inaugurated by Shri Jaswant Singh, former Finance Minister, Govt. of India. It will be chaired by Shri Yashwant Sinha, who heads a 5 member Taskforce for monitoring manifesto implementation. Experts from the academic and corporate fields will participate in it. This meeting is the first of a series of meetings of specific Subject ministers scheduled to be held in the coming few months. The purpose of these meetings is to further BJP's commitment to good governance and accelerated all round development of BJP ruled states.
