Statement on BJP National Vice-President and Incharge of the
Central Election Management and Coordination War Room
Sh Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on the Party’s Preparations for the
Next Lok Sabha Elections

The BJP would highlight its mature, experienced and visionary leadership as against the rudderless, ambiguous, confused and conflicting leadership of the Congress-led UPA even as the party would have 3Ps – Party, Principles and Personality – as the criteria for selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the activists and functionaries of the BJP Election War Room, Sh Naqvi said the party’s dynamic, experienced and visionary leadership led by its Prime Ministerial candidate Sh L K Advani held out a ray of hope for the nation as it faces the dark clouds of national and international political, economic, diplomatic and social crises in a fast changing global scenario in the coming days vis-à-vis the Congress-led UPA whose ‘leadership’ remains remote and invisible and is caught in a conflict of choice between immaturity, inexperience and incompetence.

He said the process is on a war footing for selecting candidates based on the 3 Ps- their winnability and ability to strengthen the organization right up to the booth level and take the party’s principles, policies and programmes and the manifold achievements of its various state Governments to every door step. The process is expected to be completed by June 2008 end.

Asserting that the 3 Is – Inflation, Internal Security and Incompetence – would be its main poll plank against the Congress-led UPA, Sh Naqvi said while the common man is reeling under the impact of skyrocketing prices, the Government has totally surrendered before terrorists, separatists and naxalites. India’s image has been sullied and its prestige eroded at the international fora too due to the sheer incompetence of the Government. The UPA Government has also been turning a blind eye to larger national interests in its dealings on crucial national issues, he said.

Describing the BJP-led NDA as the “natural alternative” to the Congress-led UPA, the senior leader said the performance of the previous NDA Government and the incumbent UPA Government would be the yardsticks by which the people of India would decide on the next Government.

Sh Naqvi said the party would use conventional and traditional methods such as cycle rallies, street plays (Nukkad Nataks), Padyatras and public meetings on a large scale to reach out to the common man and expose the UPA Government’s failures on all fronts, particularly the 3 Is – Inflation, Internal Security and Incompetence. The blueprint for this aggressive campaign would be given the final touches at the party’s national executive meet in Jaipur next month.
