I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn that a mishap took place today in Bodeli near Vadodara in Gujarat, in which a school bus carrying school children fell into the Narmada canal. I am particularly grieved to know that more than 40 school children lost their lives in this accident.

It is an immeasurable and irreparable loss to the parents who lost their beloved ones. I condole with a very heavy heart the unfortunate death of so many children. At this hour of the need, I share the grief of the distressed parents and family members. I am sure the Government of Gujarat will be doing its best to deal with the crisis and provide necessary relief to the bereaved families.
