A delegation of economic experts and CEO's of certain major corporate houses from Japan led by Dr. Haruo Shimada, President Chiba University of Commerce and former Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, today called on the BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh at his residence, 38 Ashok Road in New Delhi.

Calling India the land of immense economic potential Japanese delegation discussed various aspects of Indo-Japanese relations in the field of commerce and industry.

BJP President underlined the need to further strengthen the existing economic ties between both the countries. Dr Shimada told Shri Singh that Japan could share its expertise with India in areas of infrastructure development, manufacturing industry, science and technology. Whereas India could help Japan with its vast human resource which includes a large pool of skilled professionals in the field of Information Technology and also strengthen food security in country.

Shri Rajnath Singh said "Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy. If we come up with world class infrastructure, storage and transportation facilities then India could feed not only Japan but also other countries in Asia. India and Japan together can make a big difference."

Shri Singh further said that on coming to power, as it was expected to happen under the astute leadership of BJP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate Shri L K Advani, the NDA government would certainly work in this direction.

Recalling the regime of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA Government at the Centre Shri Rajnath Singh termed it as a remarkable period in the history of Indo-Japanese bilateral relations. He expressed hope that the growing relations between India and Japan would continue to be amicable and cordial in future as well. BJP has always favoured warm and vibrant relations with Japan.

At the end of the meeting Dr. Shimada expressed his gratitude and extended invitation to Sri Rajnath Singh to visit Japan later this year.
