On the occasion of BJP Foundation Day

New Delhi - 6 April 2008

BJP national president Shri Rajnath Singh extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of India on the auspicious day of Varsha Pratipada – Vikram Samvat.

On this occassion, the BJP president launched a web site on Shri LK Advani ji's book – "My Country My life" at an impressive function organised at BJP national headquarter, 11 Ashoka Road, New Delhi.

Recalling the great contributions of Shri LK Advani to the party's growth and national politics, Shri Rajnath Singh said that the Leader of Opposition never compromised with ethics and moral values. "His life itself is an open book. The example of his strict adherence to the values is,When his name was mentioned in the Hawala case, he vowed that he would never step into Parliament until he was exonerated in the false cases foisted against him," he said.

It is unfortunate that despite several failures, the Left alliance is extending support to the UPA government at the Center. The Left parties are involved in this disastrous activity on the pretext of keeping communal forces away from power corridors. The nation is well aware about the credentials of each party. The people knew well about the psuedo secular forces in the country.

The BJP's policy is – JUTICE TO ALL AND APPEASEMENT TO NONE. We are committedly working for the basic principles on which the party was formed in 1980. BJP is the only political party that has surpassed the Congress in every political aspect. This could be explained with a simple fact that the BJP is in power in majority of the States. The BJP performs over and above petty party politics That’s why it never faced a vertical division, which is a unique achievement in Indian politics.

When we were given an opportunity to rule the nation, we have implemented several schemes to strengthen our security forces and protected the borders. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee government had successfully conducted nuclear tests. These tests have forced the entire world to recognize India as an emerging power.

The UPA has failed on every front. The UPA leaders are issuing unwarranted and irrational statements to divert the attention of the people from their failures. The Congress party is once again unnecessarily raising the Kandhahar episode. The Congress party offered dharna in front of the Prime Minister's office demanding release of hostages from the clutches of terrorists who hijacked the plane. For us, it was a forced decision and forced decisions cannot be measured with the yardstick of ethics. We have taken this discision in pain not for any vote bank politics.

We have taken this decision for the release of innocent Indians from hijackers. These hostages were not our relatives as was in some other cases.

Now Congress should answer why the capital punishment awarded to Afzal Guru has not been implemented till date. They are doing so for the sake of vote banks. Can they explain the “forced circumstances’ for not executing Afzal. Policies of Congress always abeted terrorism for petty political gains. We have enacted stringent laws such as POTA to fight terrorism. The UPA government, immediately after assuming the office, has repealed the POTA act to impress upon a particular community with an obvious eye on vote bank.

At last he expressed confidence that The coincedence of Bharatiya New year with party’s foundation day is a good omen . We will form the next govt. at centre.
