Congratulations to Shri G.P. Koirala
on being appointed Prime Minister of Nepal

I am gladdened by the news that King Gyanendra of Nepal has appointed Shri Girija Prasad Koirala as his country’s new Prime Minister. I extend hearty congratulations to Shri Koirala, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress, on being chosen to head the government at this important juncture in Nepal’s progress towards effective democratization.

Coming in the wake of the King’s welcome move yesterday to revive Parliament, this is truly another positive development. The BJP hopes that the situation in Nepal will now turn in the direction of peace, reconciliation and normalization with a constructive partnership between all the democracy-loving forces and the King.
