With an eye on polls, BJP to project Atal as Vikas Purush

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to fight the coming elections on the plank of Shaktishali Bharat with the promise of making India a developed nation on par with the United States, Germany, Japan and China. The party will also tell the people that as they had given full mandate and support to the Congress party for 47 years, they should give at least ten years mandate to the BJP to realize its agenda of making India a developed nation.

The party has also decided to project Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the Vikas Purush or the Man of Development by highlighting the achievements and development works during his Prime Ministership. At the same time the party will also keep its own Iron Man L K Advani in the limelight to maintain a proper balance between development and determination.

In another strategic move, the party has also decided to launch an offensive against its main adversary - the Congress party. Do not get diverted in the line the BJP has given to its State units and lower level leaders to tackle the Congress Governments in the four States going to the poll this year - these was the highlight of the plan of action chalked out at the two-day meeting of the presidents of all the State units of the BJP, which concluded here on Friday. The meet finalised its 25-point action plan to achieve the Mission-2004 of securing 300 Lok Sabha seats in next years elections.

BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu told a news conference at the conclusion of the meet that in the next round of elections of the four States and Lok Sabha the BJP would present the theme before the people that India has all the potentialities to become a strong and developed nation.

He said that the party would seek a total mandate from the people on the basis of the successes it achieved as the leader a coalition government during last five years. For this purpose the conclave gave the slogans of Shaktishali Bharat ke liye Shaktishali Bahajapa (a strong BJP for a strong India) and Saare Desh main Bhajapa.

"In order to realize the full potentiality to make India a developed nation, please give us stronger renewed mandate. That is the theme of our campaign Mission 2004," Mr Naidu said.

He said that this drive and campaign to make India a developed nation was not only for gaining for power but to make the country stronger economically, socially, politically and culturally. He said the BJP has proved itself able of providing political stability under the able leadership of Mr A B Vajpayee and made it clear that the party will fight the next elections under the leadership of Mr Vajpayee.
