| BJP to expose UPA rule as aam admi's tear years In what appears to be the beginning of preparation for the coming Delhi Assembly and the next Lok Sabha elections in 2009, the BJP on Tuesday vowed to project the UPA's three years in power as the aam admi's tear years. The party would distribute lakhs of copies of the chargesheet against the UPA Government. "We would get the booklet titled UPA's Three Years: aam admi's Tear Years to every nook and corner of the country to mobilise the people's opinion against the Congress-led coalition's anti-people policies and acts," BJP president Rajnath Singh said. The booklet has been brought in both Hindi and English. A large number of the copies would be circulated in the State, going to the polls in coming months. The booklet details the UPA's acts of betrayals like non-formation of Telengana State, internal contradictions within the alliance, facets of relationships between Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The booklet carries a lot of caricatures and illustrations to bring home the points like 'a Prime Minister not in command.' The booklet has 14 chapters in all. Some of them are titled as Congress in Muslim League mode, Internal Security-UPA's Law and Disorder, Framers Betrayed, Foreign Policy Fiasco, Dithering on China, UPA Scandals and Scams, and Sonia Gandhi's Renunciation Drama. "The UPA Government has failed miserably on all the fronts of public welfare and nation building. It has not only belied the hopes of the people but has actually betrayed them in all respects. It has let down the aam admi, and has gone back on its promises," BJP president Rajnath Singh said after releasing the booklet at the party headquarters. "UPA's soft policy on terrorism has spawned trans-national terrorist network in and around India facilitated by ISI, which has established a clear link among dreaded militant organisations such as Maoist, Ulfa, MULTA, LTTE, other insurgent groups in north-east and Hiju and other terrorist groups in Bangladesh," he said. The last chapter of the booklet tells about the steep rise in the prices of essential commodities between May 2004 when the NDA was in power and now. "India, which was taking its place on the world stage, has now been reduced to a nation plunged in the darkness of despair," the booklet concludes. "UPA's abandonment of POTA without any substitute stringent anti-terror law has emboldened terrorist organisations resulting in increase in terrorist attacks in Ayodhya, Bangalore, Kashi, Delhi, Mumbai, and Malegaon," Singh said. "UPA's political maneuvers like resolution in Kerala Assembly asking relief for Coimbatore blast kingpin Abdul Nasir Madani, putting on hold hanging of Afzal Guru - a brain behind attack on Indian Parliament and zero tolerance warning to security forces on human right violations, have emboldened terrorists and demoralised security forces," he added. "The UPA Government has failed to build upon the promise of Pakistan President Gen Musharraf given to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on January 6, 2004 that the Pakistani land will not be allowed to be used by and for terrorist activity. The Government has rather converted Indo-Pak dialogue from terrorism centric during the NDA regime to Kashmir centric," Singh said. "The Government has attempted to undo the work of the last sixty years by accepting to cap our strategic nuclear programme. The UPA succumbed to expose our nuclear scientists to undue interference in their work, from sources outside India," Singh said. "The wrong policies of the UPA have claimed the life of over 5000 farmers. Prime Minister Singh's relief package to the families of the slain farmers proved not only inadequate but a hoax. The rate of suicide increased after announcement of his so-called relief package," he added. |
