BJP: Probe link to Andhra

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday demanded the judiciary to probe the "Andhra link" in the fake encounter case that has led to the arrest of senior Gujarat and Rajasthan IPS officers.

Former BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP M. Venkaiah Naidu said when the role of the Andhra Pradesh police is being suspected behind the alleged fake encounter case, there was a need to investigate its involvement.

"You can not give a clean chit to the Andhra Pradesh government just because it having a Congress chief minister and nail the Gujarat government for Mr Narendra Modi heading it. If a finger of suspicion has been pointed at the Andhra police, the judiciary should ensure that their role is probed. Otherwise, the judiciary should ask any competent authority to do that job," the senior BJP leader told reporters in New Delhi. The BJP, which rejected the demands to ask Mr Modi to step down, questioned the Congress whether it would ask its home minister to quit over the J&K fake encounters.
