'Rahulspeak on Babri no more than family talk'

Bollywood actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha said on Sunday that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks on the Babri Masjid demolition should not be given much attention as these were based on private talks between his father (Rajiv Gandhi) and mother (Sonia Gandhi).

"These are only his family's private talks and nobody knows the reality. His remarks clearly showed that the Congress was against the construction of a Ram Janambhoomi temple at Ayodhya," Sinha said on the sidelines of Delhi BJP's civic body public meeting at Yamuna Vihar.

In a roadshow in Western Uttar Pradesh last week, the young Congress MP had said if someone from his family had been in power at that time, the demolition of Babri mosque would not have occurred.

The former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Sinha started an aggressive election campaign for the BJP in Delhi with his two big public meetings in Yamuna Vihar and Geeta Colony in trans-Yamuna area on Sunday to woo Poorvanchali voters. Keeping in view a large number of migrant population, both BJP and Congress has fielded a good number of Poorvanchali candidates in the MCD elections.

Addressing the meetings, Sinha called upon the voters that they should settle out their accounts with the Congress. "This is the election for aam admi and these elections are a barometer of sukh or dukh. The MCD elections are a mother of all elections and a small mistake will be painful for five years. The people of Delhi shall have to decide whether they want to make Delhi a city of humans by handing over Delhi to the BJP or to make Delhi a city of animals by voting for the corrupt and anti-people Congress," Sinha said.

Describing in detail the pains and sorrows of the people harassed by price rise, the BJP leader said that the elections should decide the direction of the lives of the people and the fate of Delhi. Terming the elections as a trailer for the battle of the ballot in Uttar Pradesh, he said that first it was the UP and Maharashtra civic polls, then came the BJP victory in Punjab and Uttarakhand, now it's the turn of Delhi.

Reminding the BJP days, he said that if the BJP comes to power then the people would be able to see a new Delhi, which will be full of amenities and free from corruption. If the pains and sorrows of the people are to be cured then we must make BJP victorious and snatch the MCD from the bloody clutches of the Congress.

Speaking on the occasion, Delhi BJP president Harshvardhan said that the Congress rule has ruined every people of Delhi. Industrialists, traders, rich, poor, labourers, Rehri-Patri shopkeepers, women, children, youth have been slapped by the corruption and price spiral of the Congress. They should take revenge, defeat the Congress and bring BJP to power.

Earlier, addressing a Press conference, Vardhan alleged that the Government did not deliberately convene the meeting of the important Public Accounts Committee (PAC) again so that the bunglings of crores committed by it may not be exposed. Interestingly, the PAC has not convened a single meeting in the last one year.
