BJP to contest Gujarat poll on ideology, development

The BJP on Sunday said it will fight the coming Assembly election in Gujarat on its nationalistic ideology, development works done by the party-ruled State Government and "powerful" leadership.

"Though we have about four months left for the poll, I am here to gauge the situation and take the party into election mode," BJP's in-charge for Gujarat Arun Jaitley said.

"Our focus in the coming election will be projecting our nationalistic ideology and the fast trajectory growth in the State achieved by the State Government," he said.

Referring to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, he said the "powerful" leadership of the State is another plus point for the party.

"I don't know whether the Congress has somebody to project against our leadership or not. We will await their response," Jaitley commented on the Congress, which has not projected any one as Chief Ministerial candidate.

The party will also focus on Congress-led UPA Government's failure at the Centre and their view on some of the important issues related to Narmada dam (Sardar Sarovar Project), he said.

Jaitley in his two-day visit here, has met all the important leaders of the party in the State, including the Chief Minister, his Cabinet colleagues and dissident leader Keshubhai Patel and had formal and informal meetings with them.

In a reply to a question on five suspended MLAs, Jaitley said the party thought that they crossed the laxman rekha of indiscipline.
