Win the trust of people, BJP Councillors told

A training camp for the newly elected Councillors of the Bharatiya Janata Party was held at the party's national headquarters here on Thursday where senior leaders offered helpful tips on conducting themselves well and fulfilling the expectations of the people with integrity and hard work.

Addressing the new Councillors, senior party leaders Sushama Swaraj and Kidar Nath Sahani said the party's unprecedented victory in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections had put a crown of thorns on the heads of the BJP Councillors. The exhorted the Councillors to work as public servants and win the trust of the people, starting immediately with small urgent works so that people might feel that there had been a change.

The party leader in charge of Delhi affairs, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, urged the Councillors to open their offices in their houses so that people could approach them with their grievances with ease. He said the Councillors should also give top priority to the organisation and implement its every decision.

The Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan submitted a nine-point resolution on the occasion and it was subsequently passed unanimously. The resolution said the MCD elections were fought on the issues of sealing and demolition and a "humane solution" to these problems was necessary. It also said that a permanent solution to these problems lay in an amnesty scheme recommended by the Malhotra Committee.
